Jessica Dresden PsyD LP
Feeling anxious or unsure about reaching out and beginning therapy? That makes total sense! It is very important to me that you feel supported during this process- I know it can be hard! When you come in, you can expect me to be down to earth, kind, and personable. During our work together we will identify practical, concrete solutions to address your concerns while processing and working through deeper issues or stressors that are keeping you stuck. I will both challenge and support you. I am upfront and open with my clients in a gentle way and I flex my approach based upon your needs.
I have special interest in working with individuals (ages 5-99+) who are eager to make changes and may be struggling with concerns related to:
Fears or Phobias
Shame or Guilt
Life Transitions and Stressors
Much of my background is in the use of evidence-based treatments (which means that multiple studies have been conducted showing these treatments to be effective). I have special training in the use of Prolonged Exposure for treating PTSD, Exposure based therapies (including Exposure and Response Prevention to help individuals struggling with OCD), as well as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (which helps to increase coping skills, regulate emotions, and manage/build interpersonal relationships). When working with children and their families I have special training in the use of play therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy ([CBT] including Trauma-Focused CBT), and help to address parenting concerns.
When I’m out of the office I love spending time with my family which includes my one year old daughter, husband, and two fur babies (Chowder and Chaz). We love being outdoors (especially by the water), trying new restaurants/foods around the Twin Cities, and spending time with friends. I also enjoy writing, check out our blog posts!
